Lion’s Mane mushroom, known scientifically as Hericium erinaceus, has been a staple in traditional Chinese practices for centuries.
I’ve written about this beautiful mushroom quite a bit thus far but in this blog, I am going to explore the potential advantages of Lion’s Mane specifically for women’s wellness.
Main Takeaways Included Here
- Women’s Health and Lion’s Mane: Explore how this ancient mushroom could address the overlooked health needs of women, backed by centuries of traditional use.
- Powerful Testimonials: From users reporting enhanced mental clarity and energy to improved cognition and even vivid dreams, discover the real-life impact of Lion’s Mane through the voices of women who use it.
- Extraction Makes the Difference: Learn why dual extraction methods are essential to unlocking the full potential of Lion’s Mane, making it easier for your body to absorb the benefits.

Hopefully, mainstream medicine will soon pay more attention and perform clinical studies on this topic and others. Until then, we are each other’s best allies.
The History That Precedes US
Historically, medical research has often overlooked women’s health, leading to a significant gap in understanding and addressing women’s specific health needs.
Until today, many clinical trials primarily involve male participants.
The assumption is that findings could be generalised to women. On the other hand, women are not part of the clinical trials because our hormones are too complicated to measure and include in scientific findings.
It’s no surprise that this ‘technique’ ignores crucial differences in physiology, hormone levels, and disease presentation between the sexes.
Several reasons have contributed to this oversight. Firstly, the variability in women’s hormone cycles was often seen as a complicating factor that could skew results.
Nonetheless, we persevere and use mainly anecdotal feedback and reports from women using Lion’s Mane and how it’s impacted their wellbeing.
What The Ladies Say
As much as possible, I like to let the community speak for themselves.
So without gilding the lily or paraphrasing, here’s what the ladies have to say about our Lion’s Mane
Getting Your Daily Dose
Lion’s Mane has a more profound impact if it is thoroughly extracted.
A dual extraction is required for the beneficial compounds to be bio-available and digestible by the human gut.
Dual extractions are most typically available in powder forms which can be taken as capsules or made into a rich and non-caffeinated tea.
Alternatively, fresh Lion’s Mane is available in some shops and you can grow your own at home.
It’s such a delicious ingredient to add to any dish and a definite wow factor if hosting and cooking for a dinner party.
Keep Talking, Writing, and Sharing
We need more testimonials from our fellow lady citizen scientists.
More anecdotal reports are needed so that we can learn more about this magnificent nootropic but non-psychoactive mushroom and how it can make our day just a little bit easier and a little bit brighter.
If you are currently taking any other medication or have been through serious medical procedures, please inform your medical team of your intention to start using Lion’s Mane.
If you are currently taking pharmaceutical medication for ADHD, sleep or mood disorders please avoid combining these with Lion’s Mane and include your doctor in this conversation.
You are most welcome to send this blog to your doctor. It can be a great conversation starter that is intended to help make more informed and nuanced decisions.
If you want to top up on some Lion’s Mane, get some of our high-potency dual extract products here.

Yes! Thank you for that blog post. It was just yesterday when I watched a ‘Diary of CEO’ interview with Neuroscientist Dr. Lisa Mosconi, where she mentioned the same issue most women don’t know about: the failure on women’s health by gender-specific science, scientific assumptions and pharmaceutical testing, mostly done on men, because they are hormone-stable (really? Is that a proven fact or another assumption?) So, yes, I am all up for it … let’s get together, wild women, and gather some wisdom of brain-health and how mushrooms can keep us mindfully crispy, emotionally in a healthy flow and much more!
Ah Esther!
I so love reading your comments and your contribution to the articles 🥰
I know exactly which conversation on Diary of a CEO you mention, and I might write about it sometime soon. The lack of research/interest regarding women’s health is confusing at best and infuriating at worst.
The premise our system is ‘too complicated’ and therefore to be avoided, is so twisted. If anything, it’s a good indicator that research would benefit us the most.
As for solidarity, it’s what we’ve had to do since the dawn of time and must continue to do so today.
I could talk about this all day, maybe we should have regular calls for us lady microdosers?
Any suggestions you might have are welcome and by all means.
Please continue to share your anecdotal experiences far and wide, on every platform you can get your hands on.
Big hug!
