How can our products benefit you?
We offer a range of functional mushrooms that benefit the body in a variety of ways. Functional mushrooms are non-psychoactive, non-toxic and double extracted for maximum potency and benefit. These functional mushrooms can do so much more than mentioned here but in the interest of keeping this reply concise, I can say this, depending on your current goals, you might be interested the following:
- Lion’s Mane (gut health, inflammation, cognition support)
- Cordyceps (increased energy and cardiovascular benefits)
- Reishi (support nervous system, improve allergies, mitigates viruses)
- Chaga (for immune support, reduction of oxidative stress, blood sugar management )
Should you not be certain which of these mushrooms to start with, perhaps go for our Mushroom Essentials Complex that includes a combination of the above. This blend is a great option as a whole body supplement targeting all aspects of a well functioning physiology.
What is in our products?
Our products are gluten free, vegan, Kosher & Halaal. Free from any additives, fillers or preservatives. No added sugars, sweeteners or starch. Each capsule contains 420mg of double extracted functional mushrooms.
Are these mushrooms addictive
Despite some mushrooms being used recreationally, functional mushrooms are not addictive. Mushrooms with or without psilocybin are not habit forming in any way. Functional mushrooms do not provide any kind of ‘high’ and are not habit forming physically or psychologically.
How do i know if it’s working
Functional mushrooms offer a multilevel approach to our healing. As adaptogens, their genius lies in adding where there is lack and mitigating what is excessive. This fine tuning allows for deep, efficient yet subtle changes in our bodies and lives.
Depending on the mushrooms that you are supplementing with, there is a long list of metrics that you can measure. Everything from mood first thing in the morning, stamina during the day, ability to problem solve, ease in learning new skills, positive feedback from others, longer and deeper access to flow states.
There are many ways to track your progress, perhaps it’s a handwritten journal, a note in your private calendar or even a full blown spreadsheet. It is very beneficial to consistently track the metrics that are important to you right now and notice the pattern over time.
Tracking should also be done when not supplementing. This will enable you to clearly define where and how our functional mushrooms benefit you.
Which mushroom is most suitable for me?
Some mushrooms do come with contra-indications. Always consult with your medical specialist when starting a new regimen.
Functional mushrooms are also nutraceuticals meaning that they are a food with therapeutic properties. Functional mushrooms are completely non-toxic and do not cause any known side effects. There are rare cases of individuals that do experience allergic reactions to mushrooms (i.e. skin rashes). In other cases, certain mushrooms can interact with blood pressure medication, blood thinners and blood sugar levels.
Worth noting, mushroom extracts are not silver bullets. It is important to continue regular treatment and use functional mushrooms as an efficient add on, rather than a replacement.
Do you use fruiting bodies or mycelium for your supplements?
Our functional mushrooms are harvested from the fruiting bodies. The mycelium of Lion’s Mane and Cordyceps is cultivated on the sawdust.
The mycelium of Reishi and Chaga is cultivated right on the trees in the forest. Resihi is grown on the tree trunks and Chaga is wild grown meaning it is cultivated right on the living trees. The spores are applied to the trunk and left to fruit there.
How much should i take?
A good starting point is to follow the dosage guidelines provided on the packaging. Begin with the recommendations provided and then change as per your needs/circumstances AFTER having consulted with your medical expert. Functional mushrooms are not a replacement for medical treatment but a beneficial addition to your current medical protocol.
What is the expiration date?
As far as mushroom extracts go, they do not have an ‘Expiration Date’ but a ‘Best Before’ date.
Functional mushrooms do not lose their bioactive compounds over time. They might change in appearance (meaning they might solidify) inside the capsules.
The most important consideration when it comes to functional mushrooms is to prevent moisture and keep them in an airtight/sealed container. See your package for the best before date.
How best to take functional mushrooms?
Research has shown that therapeutic effects of functional mushrooms such as Reishi, Chaga or Cordyceps, is ideally taken on an empty stomach plus vitamin C. The beta-glucan compounds in the mushrooms are better absorbed when not having to compete with solid foods or fiber-rich smoothies. There is only one exception to this; Lion’s Mane is optimized when taken with food due to the ethanol extraction process that it undergoes.
Another very important consideration is to avoid dairy products when supplementing. Lactose binds to important polyphenols and potentially neutralizes the antioxidant effects of the mushrooms. Ideally, any dairy products would be consumed at a different time than the mushrooms, by at at least one hour.
The contents of the capsules got hard
Functional mushrooms such as Lion’s Mane absorb moisture easily causing the extract powder inside the capsule to solidify. Similar to sugar, salt or honey, it may form clumps in a humid environment.
The beneficial properties of these mushroom extracts are not affected by the change in consistency inside the capsule.
Be sure to keep all extracts in a dry properly sealed container to avoid any bacterial growth over time.
Why extracts instead of fresh or dried mushrooms
Functional mushrooms have their beneficial compounds safely locked away behind a coating called Chitin. This Chitin is to be unlocked in order to become digestible and bio-available to the human body.
Hot water extraction is the minimum processing needed to melt away the Chitin coating the mushroom cell walls. From there, a process called alcohol precipitation is applied. This procedure ensures a constant pharmaceutical level of quality and bioavailability, therefore providing you with maximum benefits.
Are there any contraindications when using these functional mushroom extractions?
Lion’s Mane, Chage, Reishi and Cordyceps are completely non-toxic mushrooms. Having said that, these powerful mushrooms might have contraindication if you are currently on medication. Always consult with your medical professional before starting any new regimen or protocol.
