From Sea to Focus: The Dutch-Grown Lion’s Mane Behind Our Focus Spray

Our Focus Sprays origin begins in Flevoland, the youngest province in the Netherlands, land reclaimed from the sea and turned into one of Europe’s most fertile agricultural regions.

It’s here, in mineral-rich soil and clean air, that we grow Lion’s Mane mushrooms on our own farm. No contracts, no shortcuts. Just deliberate cultivation in an environment designed for quality, not scale.

Wouter, our head grower, has worked with mushrooms for over 15 years. He was one of the first to bring Lion’s Mane into Dutch restaurants. Today, he leads the process behind our functional mushroom lines, from cultivation through to extraction.

Why Flevoland?

Because it’s one of the few places where this kind of farming is still possible.

We work with local byproducts, wood chips from nearby forests, grain husks, even egg shells from a neighbouring chicken farm. These would usually go to waste. We repurpose them into a nutrient-rich substrate that supports strong, slow mycelial growth.

We grow with care, not pressure. And we keep everything in-house, so the process remains visible and intact from beginning to end.

Growing for Function

Lion’s Mane isn’t a fast-growing mushroom. It demands close attention and consistency. We adjust humidity, airflow, temperature, and light depending on its development phase. When ready, the mycelium responds to a shift in the environment by forming dense, white fruiting bodies, what most people recognise as the mushroom itself.

This is the stage that matters. The active compounds begin to peak. From here, the mushroom is harvested and taken into the next phase.

A Two-Part Extraction

The compounds that give Lion’s Mane its beneficial properties aren’t all accessible in the same way. Some, like beta-glucans, dissolve in water. Others, such as hericenones and erinacines, require alcohol to extract properly.

We use both methods, slowly and at low temperatures, over several weeks. This approach preserves the full spectrum of compounds, rather than favouring speed or volume.

Once the extraction is ready, we bottle it as soon as possible to maintain the profile and integrity of the final formula.

Why a Spray?

Sublingual use offers faster absorption and more flexibility. You don’t have to plan around meals or rely on capsules. You take what you need, when it fits. Nothing more, nothing less.

It also means the extract works as part of your daily rhythm, not separate from it.

What Sets It Apart

We oversee the entire process, from farm to formulation.

That’s not common. Most mushroom products pass through several hands before they reach the shelf. The mushrooms might be grown in one country, dried in another, and extracted or bottled somewhere else entirely. Along the way, origin blurs and quality tends to slip. With us, it all happens under one roof.

That’s how we maintain consistency. And it’s why people who’ve tried other Lion’s Mane products often tell us this one feels different.

A Note on Origin

This isn’t just about mushrooms. It’s about method.

Grown on land that didn’t exist a hundred years ago, using agricultural byproducts sourced from the surrounding region as its foundation. Cultivated slowly. Extracted precisely. And delivered in a form that reflects the care behind it.

From Flevoland, to your daily routine. All the way through.
