If there’s anything that we as a society have taken seriously in the last couple of decades is our hydration levels.

Wallets have now been replaced by portable water bottles. Some might even assume that the bigger the water bottle, the higher the social status.

Yes, we’ve been drinking more water than ever, but does that mean that we are thoroughly hydrated? At a cellular level?

Well, allow me to plant a few seeds in your mind regarding actual hydration. Some myths will be debunked, while some new perspectives will brought to light for your consideration.

Outdated ideas:

8 glasses a day rule? Too simplistic. The amount of water you need is dependent on the climate you are in and your level of physical activity. 

Crystal-clear pee? Not necessarily better. If the urine is as clear as the water you just drank then it could be a sign that you are drinking too much water.

Can’t drink too much water? Very untrue. A mother in the USA died in 2023 from drinking too much water.

Water is the only source of hydration. Hardly. For water to be wholly hydrating it must include certain vitamins and minerals such as electrolytes, sodium and potassium to achieve true cellular hydration.
