Shilajit and Chaga: what is in this collection?
This collection groups two products with a very long tradition of use: purified Himalayan Shilajit resin and wild Chaga. Both come from places where they take a long time to form - Shilajit in high-altitude rock, Chaga on birch trees in the north.
What is Shilajit, and where does ours come from?
Shilajit is a natural resin that forms over centuries as plant matter and minerals compress in rock. Ours is collected in the Himalayas at around 4,000 metres, purified and filtered rather than heat-dried, and sold as pure resin in a 50 g jar.
What is Chaga, and where does ours come from?
Chaga (Inonotus obliquus) is a mushroom that grows slowly on living birch trees; in Scandinavia it is called the King of Mushrooms. It cannot be farmed, so we buy it whole and raw from Fennoscandia, the far north of Finland and Sweden, and extract it on our own farm in the Netherlands. We use the sclerotium, the dense conk on the tree, never mycelium grown on grain.
Because Chaga grows so slowly, much of what is sold is powdered in bulk and mixed with mycelium grown on grain. We buy whole, wild sclerotium only, so what goes into the capsule is Chaga and nothing else.
How are our Shilajit resin and Chaga extract made?
Chaga is extracted with our Kanzen method: water and alcohol, over six weeks, never above 38 °C, into a 20:1 whole-mushroom extract with trace cinnamon and vanilla. A serving is three capsules of 420 mg. Shilajit is not extracted into a powder at all: it is purified, filtered and jarred as resin.
How are our Shilajit and Chaga tested?
Every Shilajit batch is tested at the source by an independent laboratory for fulvic acid and for lead, cadmium, mercury and arsenic against Regulation (EU) 2023/915 before it ships. Every Chaga batch is tested before release for beta-glucans (at least 25%), triterpenes and betulinic acid, and screened for heavy metals. The certificates are on our test results page.
How do I take Shilajit and Chaga?
Shilajit: a pea-sized portion of 250-500 mg dissolved in warm water or tea, once a day. Chaga: three capsules a day with water, ideally with a meal. The two can be taken side by side; do not exceed the recommended daily amount of either, and consult a healthcare professional first if you are pregnant, breastfeeding or take medication.
Chaga is also part of the Mushroom Essentials Complex, which combines it with Lion's Mane, Cordyceps and Reishi in one capsule, and of the 4 Mushrooms Bundle, which gives you all four as separate pouches. Both products in this collection are food supplements and not a substitute for a varied, balanced diet.
How long does a jar of Shilajit or a pouch of Chaga last?
A 50 g jar of Shilajit lasts 100 to 200 days at 250-500 mg a day. A pouch of Chaga holds 90 capsules: 30 days at three capsules a day. Both are available as 1, 2 or 3-packs, with a subscription option. Keep the jar and the pouch closed, in a cool and dry place away from sunlight, and out of reach of young children.
Orders placed before 23:00 on a working day are shipped from the Netherlands the same day, with track and trace. Shipping is free from €40 in the Netherlands and from €70 to other destinations, and every order is covered by our 30-day money-back guarantee.
