Have you ever noticed how some spaces instantly put you in a productive mood while others leave you feeling scattered and drained? Let’s explore how to create a workspace that naturally supports your peak performance.
Your Space Shapes Your State
Your workspace isn’t just a place to park your laptop – it’s the command centre for your creativity, productivity, and well-being. The right environment can reduce mental fatigue, enhance focus, and support physical health. In other words, your space shapes your state.
The Essential Elements of Flow
Let’s explore what really matters when creating your optimal workspace.
Light as Medicine
Natural light isn’t just about brightness – it’s about aligning with your body’s natural rhythms. Position your desk near windows when possible, and consider how your lighting changes throughout the day. Every cell in your body will thank you.
Movement as Design
Sitting all day is so 2019. Your body craves movement, even in small doses:
- Try occasionally floor sitting or squatting while working
- Practice desk exercises like shoulder shrugs or seated twists
- Mix standing and sitting throughout your day
The Power of Cycles
Think of the Pomodoro Technique as interval training for your brain. Work intensely for 25 minutes, then take a 5-minute break. After four cycles, take a longer pause. Simple, but remarkably effective.
During those 5-minute breaks, wake up your body with:
- Do a dozen or so squats
- Jump rope for a couple of minutes
- Do some wall stretches for hips and shoulders

Dynamic Posture
Your body wasn’t designed to be a statue. Consider a standing desk and maybe even a dynamic standing board to keep your legs, back and posture engaged and fluid.

The Art of Less
A cluttered space creates a cluttered mind. Keep your workspace simple and intentional. Only the essentials should earn their place on your desk.

Nature’s Touch
Plants aren’t just decorative – they’re productivity allies. They clean your air, calm your mind, and remind you of the natural world beyond your screen. And if you spend most of your day at home alone and working, you have someone to talk to. Plants love being spoken to, sung to or stroked. Yes, really. See how this lady’s plants respond when she sings to them.
General Environmental Considerations
As for the general environment, consider these factors:
- Sound: Play rhythmic music with few vocals, here’s one of my favourites playlists.
- Scent: Experiment with focus-enhancing aromatherapy such as lemon
- Temperature: Cooler is better
The Microdosing Connection
Here’s where it gets interesting: many in our community have found that combining a well-designed workspace with microdosing creates powerful synergy. The medicine seems to:
- Heighten environmental awareness
- Boost creative problem-solving
- Deepen focus during work sessions
Flowing Forward
Creating your optimal workspace isn’t about following rigid rules – it’s about designing an environment that supports your unique flow state. Start small, experiment with one or two of these at a time, then observe what works, and keep refining.
If you really want to go to the next level and ready to start microdosing, then get your Starter Pack here, and read the Beginner’s Guideline.
If you’re not ready to start microdosing, maybe you want to get some of our high potency Himalayan Shilajit and/or our Mushroom Essential Complex blend of high potency dually extracted functional mushrooms.
This is about progress, not perfection. 1% everyday creates compounding benefits that build quickly in a short amount of time.
Be sure to continue sharing your experiences in the comments below – you know I’m always curious to hear your perspectives.
As always,
Shine bright. Do good. Flow strong,
Asha ✨
