Move ALL Day To Thrive

I heard a great quote recently, It said: when we are born, we look like our parents, and when we die, we look like our choices.

Yes, this is a jarring statement and intentionally so. I am trying to get your attention and consider the potential long-term implications.

As far as I’m concerned, there is a profound impact on our overall well-being to remain in constant motion. All day, every day.

In other words, Newton’s First Law of Motion teaches us that an object already in motion tends to stay in motion, also known as the law of Inertia.

The Science of Everyday Movement

Recent findings from health tracker data suggest that small, consistent movements throughout the day can have a dramatic impact on both physical health and cognitive health.

A recent article on Outside Online made the case that tracking your total movement throughout the day, not just intermittent workouts a few times a week is an important indicator of health and longevity.

Some studies have gone as far as to suggest that daily movement outperforms traditional metrics like age, diabetes, and heart disease in predicting lifespan.

Constant Motion

Consistent movement throughout the day, whether it’s walking, stretching, or light activity, keeps our fascia, cardiovascular system, and lymphatic system in humming like a well oiled machine.

Constant and consistent movement helps to reduce stiffness, improve circulation, and support immune function.

Not long ago, I wrote an article about integrating movement into a busy schedule while sitting at your desk and I hope it gives you some ideas to get started.

Whether you are standing on one leg while washing the dishes or doing squats while watching a show, the small consistent changes have a compounding and accumulative effect over time and this is when the magic happens!

Atomic Habits and the Pomodoro Technique

I can hear you now. You’re busy. Life is hectic. There’s so much going on, all the time!

I get it and my answer is to consider stacking your way into a more active lifestyle.

A great hack is using the principles we learned from Atomic Habits combined with the Pomodoro technique, is an achievable way of upping your movement game.

For example, for every 25 minutes of focused desk work, set yourself a timer for five minutes of stretching or a quick bodyweight exercise.

Next thing you know, you’ve moved your body for 40 minutes within an 8 hour work day!

Achievable, sustainable and effective is possible and attainable. I promise.

Thigh Strength and Longevity

Do you know what the most important muscle in our body is regarding longevity? Well, as it turns out, it’s the thighs and leg muscles.

Steven Kotler, the co-founder of The Flow Research Collective explains that thigh strength is one of the top predictors of longevity

Strong thighs is not just about looking great on the beach; they are critical for mobility, balance, and preventing serious injuries as we age.

The stronger our legs are, the less likely we are to suffer injuries in older age

Prioritising leg strength through activities like squats, walking, or cycling is paramount.

The Sisyphus Effect of Aging

For those of us who are older, did you know that after the age of 30, we lose approximately 3-5% of muscle mass per decade, a process known as sarcopenia.

This is also a cumulative effect but as a downward trending cycle rather than upward, meaning, it’s very bad news.

This decline means that maintaining muscle tone becomes increasingly challenging with every passing year. It’s a real bummer but the sooner we know about this, the better off we are.

The tax we pay for extra wisdom through age must be paid via physical movement aka Sisyphus endlessly rolling a boulder uphill.

Basically, after the age of 30, we gotta start earning it, and never stop, no way around it.

Functional Mushrooms: Your Secret Weapons

Functional mushrooms like Lion’s Mane, Chaga, Reishi, and Cordyceps offer a natural way to support daily movement and vitality.

Here’s what each of these have to offer.

Lion’s Mane: Helps you stay sharp and motivated throughout the day.

Chaga: Is packed with antioxidants.

Reishi: This adaptogenic mushroom is perfect for promoting balance, making it easier to stay consistent with your routines.

Cordyceps: Cordyceps is ideal for keeping your body moving and energised.

Adding functional non-psychoactive mushrooms into your daily routine can provide the natural boost you didn’t know you needed to maintain consistent movement and energy.

And if you still can’t decide then our Mushroom Essentials Complex includes our unique blend of all four functional mushrooms.

Recovery and Extra Energy with Ashwagandha

Ashwagandha is also an excellent addition for those who need a little extra support to recover from daily activity.

It’s an Ayurvedic adaptogen that complements the benefits of functional mushrooms making it easier to stay consistent with daily movement and overall wellness.

It can be used as a pre-workout or a post-workout, adaptogenics are amazing like that.

Our product is the most clinically studied Ashwagandha extract, offering the highest potency of active compounds.

Flowing Forward

Whether through functional mushrooms, adaptogens like Ashwagandha, or nothing at all.

Get moving, and don’t ever stop.

As a matter of fact, how about doing 10 quick squats and push-ups right now?

Ready? Set. Go!

Thank me later.

As always,

Shine bright. Do good. Flow strong.
